For my 3L hybrid, I have:

2002 Sable based 3L
1999 CVST pan (though modified baffle and extra volume)
1999 CVST pickup, simply modified support bracket

Why would that be a problem? I was careful in modifying the pickup tube as to not alter it's height in the pan.

Installing engine in car tomorrow ......

1. Explain that a bit???

2. I'm not saying it can not be physically done, but you are taking a risk it will stay in it's newly bent state.
If you took lots of measurements of the original placement you may be able to get it pretty close.

Remember even turning up one corner can cause it to suck in air.

...or you could pay $15 for the revised pickup and be safe.
