Hey guys, I've got a 2000 V6. Currently still have the factory stereo (standard unit) in it. I've blown a front speaker and am going to replace both fronts. I'm just wanting to replace the speakers right now. What should I get? I know the current ones are two-way 6x8s. Could I put in 3-ways with my factory wiring? I'm pretty handy at figure this stuff out once I get into it, but I wanted to know what to buy before I start on it. Any suggestions on where to get these speakers at a good price? I need to get this done soon!
Thanks!

the wiring for 2-way/3-way is the same externally, just an added midrange in the speaker. you just hook it up with your 2 existing wires and press "play"

If your serious about sound, most of us will tell you to go with component setups. But if you want to keep it simple and easy to install you can go with plate component speakers. This is what I have in my front doors. Speakers I've always liked www.etronics.com They seem to always have the best deals unless you can find a blowout sale somewhere.

I bought my stuff from Millionbuy.com. Got it really fast, the prices were really good, and they provided me with tracking info for free. I would figure out what you want to put in, then do a search for the model number through google or dogpile. Then go from there. Check the dB rating too. The higher the louder, but be careful or sensitivity range... the 6x8's can only handle so much bass.

r u saying u blew a stock speaker? or an aftermarket 2 way and want an aftermarket 3 way. if stock, see my sig. i dont think 3 way coaxials would really be worth it. the midrange is so tiny. 4 ways add a super tweeter that u can barely see.

I am replacing factory speakers. The new speakers will play on the factory head unit. I just want to know what kind of speakers I can install. I want some good speakers at a good price. Nothing fancy. I'll put in a nice system in a few years when I have the $$$ to do it right.

I would check circuit city's open box specials in the car audio department. I got a set of Infinity 5x7's there last year for 45$. I really liked them and was reluctant to get rid of them until a friend of mine coaxed me into 6.5 components. Hope it helps...

I think your going to have to give us a price range, then you'll get some good answers. Just keep in mind that ANY aftermarket speaker is better than the paper stock ones.

Price range of no more than $80 per pair. I guess I'm just wanting to be sure I get some good speakers that I can hook up to the existing factory wiring without any extra hassle right now.
Thanks
