Question for you guys.....I am running a Sony 75x2 amp for my subs. The 75x2 is in 4 ohms. I am running the amp in 3 ohm. How many watts do you think it is pushing now?

You could safely assume that it is getting about halfway between it's 2 and 4 ohm power. Some of the Sony amps don't quite double their power into 2 ohms. Without knowing the model number of your amp, I would guess 100-110 watts x 2.

That is what I was thinking. I had my stereo tested and I am at 134.4 db.....I am tempted to by a Nakamichi amp that my brother-in-law has.

It was rated at 200 in 4 ohm and 400 in 2.

Sorry I missed out. Long lunch nad then a meeting. Sucks how works gtes in the way sometimes. Looks like I would hae said about the same as Dave. You'll notice the sound level difference. Measured, probably gain about 4-5dB.

4-5? That would put me around 140.....Maybe I should go with a more powerful amp.

Every doubling of power will gain 3dB measured, which is the smallest noticable differnce by the ear. So, if you hit 134.4dB with 100w, 200 will add 3dB, 400 would be 6dB. But, at 3ohms, that Nak would put out about 300w, or 5dB gain. So, how much power can your subs take?
