hmmm...i'm not buying that one completely. both have 170 hp, but gsr has you by about 300 pounds. honda motors make peak power, which i believe should take you in higher gears. It is possible, but I would need some time slips from both cars with a good driver.

Are you really this dumb? or do you just play it on the internet?
I'm sick of people spouting ignorant parroted gibberish about turbo lag, just so they can think they are smart.
1. Its not lag, its called boost threshold. For a given turbo system, there will be an rpm, under which, at WOT, there is still not enough exhaust energy to spool the turbo. Lag is the time it takes, when you are already above this threshold (and zero or "negative" boost), for the turbo to make appreciable boost from when you hit the gas.
2. How in the world could a turbo make launch times worse than the same car without a turbo???? (aside from excess power and limited traction) If the turbo hasn't spooled enough to create boost yet, the engine acts no different than the same engine with no turbo, at least until the turbo picks up enough rotational speed. Think of it this way, if you take two identical cars, add a turbo to one of them, and then line them up side by side. The two cars will perform virtually identically until the turbo car starts making boost. You could say the non-turbo car would behave just like a turbo car with infinite lag, or a boost threshold above its rev limit.
3. If a turbo is sized properly for an engine/application, it won't make boost unless its under load, ie accelerating. So except in extreme circumstances (ie drag racing setup w/ a two-step or stutter box to help build boost when not moving) raising the boost pressure at the wastegate won't do jack for the initial launch.

FYI, this thread is somewhat borderline as a street racing topic. I keep expecting to have to lock it (so far I haven't yet . . .) but it only takes one person to ruin it for everyone else.
They don't call me the Intolerant Admin for nothing.

So, are you telling me that you think simply putting "IMO" gives you carte blanche to spout bad technical information? I don't think so. If you don't know what you are talking about, don't make statements; rather, ask questions. This philosophy will take you far, and make you look like much less of a fool.
I don't appreciate bad tech, so I guess we're even . . .
And if you don't know why this is borderline into dropping into a street racing related topic, I can't help you; I think it's pretty obvious.

I agree with rara on zippy, quite annoying. But on ths street racing side, nobody has mentioned a street race or anything of the sort yet, I'm lost as to where it is obvious...
