Hey, I didn't spend the least on parts but I did all the work myself. And my system sounds pretty damn good. Don't know about spl though...don't really care too much. I'm only running one 12, I doubt it's too high. 146.2 is impressive none the less, with three tens and all.

$250 on speakers and amp
$140 HU (tape)

I bet no one beats me for SQ at that price.

Heck, I'll throw in the $250 CD changer and still bet no one beats me for total $$$. Now SPL, I didn't go for, but I bet I could hit 110's, although I don't know how the dB drags measure it (frequency, location)

I think most people on the site seem to have done part (most) of their install themselves.

Rainshdw, your install would have been in the 4-6000 range at least. Mine would have been 2k if I had to guess.

Heres the run down:

$220 - Pioneer DEH-4300 HU
$925 - 2 Hifonics Boltar 2ch Amps
$160 - Lightning Audio 4ch Amp
$475 - 4 Infinity Kappa Perfects
$315 - 4 Infinity Kappa 693.1's
$150 - Alpine 11-band EQ
$45 - Sound Deadner
$50 - Wiring

Grand Total = $2340 laugh

I did all the installation of the wiring and other components.
I'll be upgrading the HU soon to a Pioneer Premier P1
And I am building a custom box/amp rack to fit the 4 Perfs in the trunk as well :p

yeah I was thinking the same thing, depending on type/quality of hardware/materials. Once I redo the trunk next month you will have to add at least another 7-9 grand for install and new equipment. Man I think I need to check into a mental hopsital
