I notice the struts absorb bumps alot more than the gl's and overall the car handels better and seems to be a little more responsive on sterring. Im glad I did the upgrade and I still have to do the rears, but was so worn out from doing the fronts I have put off untill next weekend. Thanks for all the input..
Welcome to the club 
For me the most helpful thing was to have a strong roommate step on the control arm to push it down. Probably because of the less weight, the SVT struts seem to hold up much better - I did the swap at 110k (orig. was total toast) now at 155k the (used) svt suspension is still as crisp as it has to be. And yes, as Kremit said the rears are a cakewalk.
