oh on a side note, the only under 20,000 dollar cars that chrysler makes are the Sebring sedan (base model) and the PT cruiser (base model). i love my moms concorde, which drives better than mose BMW's i have ridden in and wayyy better than my grandmothers 2000 Toyota Avalon. my moms 2002 Chrysler Concorde Limited had a sticker price of 38,880 after dealer markup.

That's because Chrysler has positioned itself in a higher market than Ford has. It's customers are willing to pay a little (or a lot in some cases) more than for a Chrysler than for a Ford. Just like Ford buyers are willing to pay a little extra for a Ford rather than drive a Hyundai. And Hyundai buyers are willing to pay a little more rather than drive a Kia.

But 38,800 for a Concorde.... Wow. I'd have bought a 300M if I was going to spend that kind of money, but that's me.

well i said that was the sticker price. my mom get a discount through the company she works with and they wanted to get rid of the car, so they sold it to us for 20K...moms discount takes her to 3% below invoice, and my dad is a good negotiator.

except in Europe. The Puma, which shares many of the same components as the ZX2 is a super car. and it looks GOOD too. unlike the awkward and weeny-ish looking ZX2.

which would you rather have:

or this

the bumpers, headlights, rear end all look better on the Euro version.

Ford just has its head up its butt when it comes to making good looking cars in their own country. i think they take theur price point for granted at the demise of quality.

That Puma bumper wouldn't have a chance in hell of passing US bumper regs.

No, baco, I think you're agreeing with me 100%... on the main point anyways -- that there's simply no comparing a Taurus and an Infiniti

Now, the side issue on whether I'd spend the extra money we might disagree. But that's just my personal feelings on car prices. I'd never buy a car over 30K (today's prices) unless I was much better off than I am currently. Sure, I could make the payments now with no problem, but I wouldn't get twice the enjoyment out of it. Yeah, I'm cheap.

I am, like most people, just not willing to spend that kind of money on a car whether I have the money or not. Which is exactly the market that Ford is aiming for now and would lose if they priced their cars at European prices.

my point is that you get what you pay for. new or used.

if Ford decided to actually bring quality products and quality customer service (post purchase) i'd consider another one. but it doesn't look like they are going in that direction. the Excusrion was a flop, the Thunderbird was a flop, the new Mustang looks very disappointing as compared to the concept car.

if other car manufacturers can do it throughout the globe, i don't understand why ford refuses to improve their products in their own country. it will guy them the respect they need to make higher-end products.

Depsite the fact that all three cars were in the same price bracket, the CSVT did not come out on top because the quality simply wasn't there. (the G20t was lacking in power, and the Audi was $3k more than the other 2).

are you sure you read that article right...because the article i read comparing those three cars, the svt owned those cars in almost every catagory...and the CLEAR winner in that shootout was the svt....the ONLY thing any of the testers said negatively about the svt,was that the mnb interior looked sort of purplish in the sun...i have that very article printed from online and the svt owned both of those cars in the shootout......

i also disagree about the fact that the g20 is some superior vehicle in quality...a co worker of mine has one i was NOT that impressed with the fit and finish of his car...felt kinda cheap inside imo...its a decent car and all,but not superior to an svt..i certainly wouldn't say it was light years ahead of the svt in quality by no means...the g20 is kinda the bottom line infinity, another coworkers(cant remember the model)larger, sort of older larger infinity is miles ahead of the g20 in quality...

You're right though, Europe gets all the fun toys.

Ditto. It ain't about Fords only. Some of Mercedeses are not sold in America. none of Citroens, Peugeots, Renaults, Opels, Fiats, Lancias, etc. It's just the market. All of them won't have a chance to be sold in America in quantities justifying their introduction. ... and yuppers, some of 'em are cool indeed....

i remember reading about serious fit and finish issues with the CSVT. the words "brute" and "unrefined" come to mind. i know it knocked them both on the track, but not overall...

and i'm not sure what year G20 your friend has, but maybe he doesn't take care of it. just look at the leather on the seats. much different quality. our G20 looks as new as the day we bought it and the CSVT looks ok, but lived in. its a totally different qualityof material. and the dash doesn't lift up on the infiniti either. and the floor mats are better quality and haven't worn through. the list goes on and on.

i know people won't believed me and i'm not saying the G20t is the best thing since sliced bread and internet porn, but it's far and above a better car than anything ford makes in terms of quality.
