But have you ever driven a high-end Infiniti?

Not to diss on the Taurus, because I like the car, but there is simply no comparison there.

Is it worth the price different to me personally? No. But most Infiniti owners wouldn't be caught dead in a Taurus.

Likewise, most Ford owners couldn't afford the Infiniti. Which is the point of this thread. A Taurus with European quality would be priced like an Infiniti, and Taurus buyers are NOT Infiniti buyers, they are $17,000 car buyers. If they had $40,000 they'd be that Infiniti, but they don't. If you price a Ford at $40,000 they'll simply buy a Malibu or Sebring or whatever the comparison would be.

sorry man. i have to disagree again. i own both an infiniti G20t and a CSVT. i love both cars, but i wouldn't look at another Ford, not because I don't consider myself a Ford buyer, but because the cars are ages apart regarding reliability and fit-n-finish. there simply is no comparison. when the SVT first came out, there was a 3-way road test between te Audi A4, CSVT, and G20t. Depsite the fact that all three cars were in the same price bracket, the CSVT did not come out on top because the quality simply wasn't there. (the G20t was lacking in power, and the Audi was $3k more than the other 2).

let's take, for example, a comparison between the G35 6MT Coupe and Mustang Cobra SVT. Both are sport coupes. Both are in the same price range. But the Inifinti is FAR AND ABOVE the better car for relaibility and quality. the door panels on the mustang rattle and flex, the middle dash section looks like it was put together by a 5 year old, and the materials come from the cheapest plastic parts bins in the industry. the G35 has OK wood grain & aluminum accents, MUCH nicer leather seats, buttons and switches with a QUALITY FEEL, and solid build characteristics. with $36k burning a hole in my pocket, there is no question that i'd go with the Infiniti.

especially considering the fantastic time i've had with the G20's completely worry-free first 31k miles vs. the CSVTs tentative and rattle-infested first 42k miles. And the fantastic Infiniti dealer network and knowledgable service people vs. Ford's "rent-a-technician" thickheaded repair staff.

i love driving and looking at my CSVT, but the G20t will definitely outlast it with much less worry, and for the same sticker price.
