You're talking very niche market cars there; and the same applies to most of the cars carried in Europe. The vast majority of people in this country simply are not willing to pay for the cars Ford (and others) carry in Europe. Those cars cost as much as 50% more than their closest US counterparts in the US do.

The Mondeo ranges from $23,000 to $40,000

The Focus in Britain ranges from $19,000 to $45,000

Yeah, those cars would be great for FoMoCo over on this side of the pond. However, those prices would not, and they'd only get considerably higher if they were made by US autoworkers.

Imagine how many cars Ford would sell if they didn't have a single automobile line under $20,000. They'd price themselves right out of the business.
