I am considering a purchase of a motorcycle from an individual in Spain. Does CarFax have information concerning the history of a motorcycle?

If not....Does anyone know where I can GET information concerning a motorcycle in a differant country? I have the VIN....I"m just trying to cover my bottom! Any advice will help!

THanks!

Be very careful buying a bike from overseas. There are many people scamming bike buyers and they pretend the bike is overseas and say they will ship it UPS. Also the bike is priced pretty lowbecause of some good sounding reason (wife is making him get rid of it). They setup a fake escrow site that makes the buyer feel better about sending the money to them. Depending on the bike you may have trouble trying to register it in the states.

If he says he will go thru an escrow site try asking if he will use (insert name of other escrow site here) instead of the one he suggested.

Thanks.....

I'm actually planning on paying him through western union wire transfer. After speaking with the Western Union representatives I have found a secure way to do this.
They told me to send the money via W.U. to his address but use a female's name. Then he can call and use the address to check if the funds are there. If they are, he will ship the bike. After I recieve the bike I'll have 15 days to inspect it and make my descision..... If I approve, I'll transfer the money from the females name into his name.

Has anyone ever sent money like this? If Western Union said it was safe, I'll believe them.

Thanks!

Have them put that in writing... then its nearly impossible to get screwed. Some screwball clerk could tell you that, and then you'd get stuck not being able to transfer the money out of the woman's name... get the procedure in writing and a guarantee that its scam-safe, and you'll be money.

No offense, but you are NUTZ for buying a bike overseas. Is it a US spec bike originally sold here? How will you get it registered and legalized? (unless it'll be your track bike)

You're gonna wire money to someone for something you've never seen before, ESPECIALLY overseas with more or less ZERO guarantee you'll ever see the bike. Not to mention you're transferring funds to a different name, and etc.

What bike is it? For how much?
