Every car enthusists nightmare. Traffic at a stand still on the interstate and the car behind you doesn't stop in time and rams into you. Yeah... it's been a great morning. Here's the damage. http://www.PictureTrail.com/gid2866698
I'm just curious before the insurance company gives me the run around, what's am I looking at in ballpark price. obviously, new bumper, and it bent in the holding area where the spare tire goes, passenger side stoplight doesn't work anymore, the trunk has shifted to the passenger side, hopefully it didn't do anything to the frame of the car(there's a large gap on the driver side trunk). When the impact occured, I was surprised but there was no large boom or crunching noise, it was very little. I drove the car home no problems whatsoever, drove just as smooth as it ever had. I'm extremely lucky, hopefully this is all cosmetic damage, it didn't get the side panels or the trunk, or the lights. Meanwhile, her car, a 1998 Camry... is messed up bad, her whole front end is gone. I drove away. She was waiting on a wrecker. Chauk another one up for the awesome Fords.

It might drive ok but their might be underlying damage that will crop up down the road. If the spare tire well is bent that doesn't sound too good. I'm guessing a total since the value of a 4-5 year old Tour is crap.

Similar damage to what my Saab 9000 got in a 20MPH rear-ender. Total bill was around $3k to straighten everything, replace some stuff and repaint. I pocketed the cash and sold the car, still drove perfect, for an additional $1k. Only paid $3k for the car a year before so not a bad deal

How's your neck and back? Make sure to contact your insurance company ASAP and tell them you may be injured, do it in writing, and do the same to the other lady's company too. Gotta protect your rights, it sometimes takes a couple of days for stuff to crop up. I have one client who was in a similar crash last spring, seemed OK but for a slightly sore back, and he's undergoing spinal fusion surgery next month!

Good luck,

Scott

maybe you could post some pics of the damage in the trunk? it might be a total. Kelley Blue Book quotes it as $5,890 not wrecked (if its not an auto and has leather)...

Well, a new bumper for my car (being put on now) was assessed at $537.00 parts and labor, so figure at least that. A taillamp assy. will be a good $200 installed. All told, look to have an estimate of about a grand, maybe a little more if there's any undercarriage damage.

If there's any frame damage at all, and with a tweaked spare well, there's a good possibility, I'd bet they total it.

The tail lights are about $200 each by themselves, trunk lid, bumper, exhuast, and trunk floor will run at least $3,000 - $4,000 for OEM Ford parts plus the labor and paint your car is definately going to be totaled. Your car only has a book value of about $5,000 retail if it's in like new condition.

My Zetec died one too many times so I got a new car. 1992 Camaro RS 305 TBI with T-5 M/T, high flow cat, custom cat back exhuast. Soon to be home to a LS1 stroked to a 383 with a T-56. Hey Brad, want to race?

he was REAR-ENDED. which means the other drivers insurance has to pay for everything, which...under the circumstances will mean they probably total it...
