um, pushrods may be eliminated with an OHC design (note that throwing a pushrod isn't a common failure mode) but connecting rods are not.

Not connecting Rods! They don't have push rods!

The problem with America is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment
for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety
labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Since you live in PA, I thought I might recommend this guy eBay link. I bought my Mystique from him, and I know he has several '97 and up Tauruses. You can get a complete running car for around 600 or so (they're usally wrecked, but have good engines.). Hes a great guy.
1995 Mercury Mystique - The $280 Wondercar. Sold for $96.
1996 Toyota Camry LE - At least it ran.
1988 Ford Bronco Custom - Chock full of get-up-and-slow.
1996 Taurus Wagon LX - In loving memory. *sniff*

EDIT: on another note, i would replace it with an HMS (high performance) MTX 75. the problem is that tauruses automatics shift on the column (at least the older ones did) and SVT's shift on the floor.
Not that it matters, but Duratec Taurii shift on the floor. Only vulcan powered Taurii shift on the column.
Turbocharged trolling around here somewhere.

So, Now I actually have this car in my possesion...
And I will be getting the motor installed in the next week.
Besides new plugs, wires, etc...is there anything else I should *do* to the car before having the motor installed?
Is it true what I heard about the oil pumps having problems on these cars???? If so, is there some HD pump I can get and have installed in this junkyard motor?
Ideas appreciated!!!! By the way, I was quoted $2900 by my local mechanic to install a junkyard 24V duratech with a 30 day warranty...that's not too bad, is it?
Later,
Nater
