EDIT: on another note, i would replace it with an HMS (high performance) MTX 75. the problem is that tauruses automatics shift on the column (at least the older ones did) and SVT's shift on the floor. if you do this make sure you get a Torsen or Quaiffe (sp?) differential as 3L with a stock diff dont mix...




Dont bother going with a manual trans and $2000-2500 is way off! Your just making more work for yourself since the trans mounts, axles, etc dont line up.

Ive never heard of throwing a rod on a 3.0L? Sure you didnt just spin a rod bearing? Worst case senario, youll probably have to buy a new engine minus the intakes etc. If you just spun a rod bearing, just buy a used 99 3.0L shortblock for about $500-700. I dont think any kind of major prep work has to be done since your using the auto trans and 3.0L heads.
