well you could replace it with a 3L for probably around 2,000-2500 i would think. if you just need the block and not the tranny it may be even less. it seems like a good deal to me, is it a Taurus SHO?
EDIT: on another note, i would replace it with an HMS (high performance) MTX 75. the problem is that tauruses automatics shift on the column (at least the older ones did) and SVT's shift on the floor. if you do this make sure you get a Torsen or Quaiffe (sp?) differential as 3L with a stock diff dont mix...
