Never thought I would be saying this but thanks to Comcast.
Comcast today increased the speed of my cable modem download from 1.5 Mbps to 3.0 Mbps at no charge.
It seems the Detroit area is one of 14 nationwide to get the enhancement.

Just ran a test on http://www.dslreports.com/stest to test it out:
Your download speed : 3014432 bps, or 3014 kbps.
A 367.9 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 224391 bps, or 224 kbps.

Wow, that's awfully nice of them. I used to have 3.0Mbps until they cut speeds in half a while back. Actually when I first got my cable modem I was getting something like 6 Mbps downstream and 1.5Mbits upstream. I miss those days...

I dunno if our area is supposed to get the 3M upgrade, but I assume we would since Comcast's HQ is right here in town.. However, I'm still getting lousy rates of 963 / 221 right now. A far cry from the 1.8M/128k we're being quoted.

Over here in the 'zoo, Charter upgraded our speed to their fastest for no charge for 6 months or something like that. They said it was to thank us for our patience with their work.

I am still on dialup.
Your download speed : 20203 bps, or 20 kbps. A 2.4 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 77564 bps, or 77 kbps.
Your upload speed is much faster than down.. have you tweaked? Your connection hardly qualified as broadband, at least in that test

That thanks to my 2mbit cap raise from Charter.
