I bought an alternator filter to filter out the alternator noise. Can anyone tell me where the alternator is located and which/what color wire I need to put the filter on? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Is this a typical noise filter, or an actual "alternator filter"?
If it's a regular noise filter (which it probably is), you just wire it in-line on your amp's power cable. It should also have a ground, which you should appropriately ground.

This is an alternator filter. It has two wires. I bought it from crutchfield.

Did you buy the "PAC ANS-80 In-line Alternator Noise Filter"?
The alternator is a small generator run off the accessory belt in the engine compartment. Splice it into the power wire coming off of the alternator.
I can't tell whether or not it needs to be grounded. Just make sure to follow the supplied instructions on the wiring.

Where exactly is the alternator located and what color would the power wire be?

It's on the left side of the engine compartment and a PITA to get to. Your best bet is to get a Chilton's manual instead of me trying to explain how to hook it up. You don't want to put it on your starter or something and let a bunch of electrical gremlins loose on your car.
They've got pictures and specific diagrams, a big help.

I believe if its a pac filter you hook it up to your RCA jacks running from you pre outs and then connect the cables to it. The alternator has nothing to do with the hookup Brian Originally posted by Macmadd: I bought an alternator filter to filter out the alternator noise.
