I have green neons under my silver SVT. One tube on each side and one in the back. I couldn't figure out how to mount the tube in front without permanently removing the plastic shield under the engine. Anyway, they are not that bright that I would consider them distracting to other drivers but I have been warned by a state trooper that they are illegal in Pennsylvania.
I believe that neons are now old school. There are now tubes available with lots of LED's that allow you to have 7 colors or so (in one tube). You can select the color you want at any time.
When my neons arrived, my wife wanted to call the divorce lawyer. She still thinks they are tacky, childish, etc. but frankly, my kids love them. They call them "glow-lights". The only girls that I am impressing are in the "under 5 years old" category. I love to turn the lights on when my wife is in the car and wait for her to notice - she gets pissed.
But honestly, with the SVT body crap, the neon effect is pretty cool. You don't see the lights, just the glow. As I have said before, I estimate that the neon lights add about 30 HP - at the rear wheels!
