Anybody here have neon lights under their cars? Although my buddy drives a saturn, he is really into the import crowd a lot. Well, he has been bugging me to install neons under my SVT so I stand out more with the import boyz. Should I install them, or is that going too far over the line? Even though its a rice thing, my car is American and I dont see how adding neon lights would put me in the rice category, what do y'all think?

If you have lots of other stuff done (aftermarket wing, etc.) then yeah it would look good with the proper color and a good installation. But underbodies on any stock or near stock car doesn't look great.

i've always thought the contour look was much classier than anything that is an 'import'-- look @ beyondloaded or stazzi's rides, they're not overdone or nething, they're awesome but they still have a lot of class to them- they don't look stock but they're not way over the top...
i wouldn't do the lights, i think it just doesn't go with the personality of the car

Depends all on your style. I think they fit my car great. You be the judge.

I think a better word would be TACKY or TASTELESS instead of RICEY. I think underbody neons(actually neon lighting in general) can look good if done right. Exposed neon tubes of any sort are tacky and tasteless IMO.

EDIT: Another option here and here. I would love to see these in person. I bet they are super thin(making mounting them easier), low power consuming, and probably last forever. They can also scan back and forth(can you say Kit from night rider...LOL). The question is...are they as bright or brighter than a standard neon tube?

Haha, there must be a chemical that Saturn uses in their interior plastics that causes kids to hallucinate and think they're driving Hondas. I see more rice on Saturns than actual "rice" cars .

Better check to see what your state's laws say about vehicle lighting.  It may be very much illegal to drive a car on public roads while using such as this.  I know that most states have specific laws about what color of lighting may be used on what parts of a vehicle.  White is allowed only in front, except for backup and license plate lights, red is allowed only on back, and so on.  I believe most states specifically reserve blue exterior lighting for law enforcement, and that having any blue lighting on the exterior of your own vehicle can, and has actually been construed as some form of ??impersonating a police officer?, even when such lighting is not arranged in any way that looks like it would on an actual police vehicle.  I think the only color of lighting that is generally allowed outside of specific places is amber/orange.

Legal issues aside, I see a significant safety issue here as well.  Would you want to be driving behind this on a dark night?

I see serious problems with glare and visibility.

It seems to me that with ownership of such a fine car as a Ford comes some responsibility to set an example, to show that we are above the tackiness and the bad taste of the ricers.  If you truly value tackiness and bad taste above performance, utility, and safety, then please sell your Ford to someone who will treat it with proper respect, and go by a Honduh instead.

I guess it needs to happen, every so often, that someone will post a series of pictures like those that have been posted here, to show just how right I am when I say that there are some people who simply shouldn' t be allowed to own Fords.
