My SE Sport has the factory tape deck, which so far has been pretty nice. Since I have an iPod, I've been using a cassette adapter so I can have all my music right in the car, however, I've been looking to upgrade the system on my car. Does anyone have a recommendations on head units with auxiliary inputs on them? I'd like to be able to play CDs when I'm not using the iPod, it doesn't happen often, but sometimes I don't have the ability to put new stuff on it right away. - Ian in Tampa iantgreat@aol.com 99 SE Sport MTX T-red 55k

I love my Panasonic DVD-Audio,DVD,CD Player. The auxilliary is very helpful even though it is MONO!!!! Unfortunatly it is not in production anymore. My advice is to get out there and listen to decks that have an auxilliary input and make a decision based on price, sound, and asthetics.

JVC is the way to go, I am in love with my SH99. Avoid svtcont00 advertisements his prices are severely overpriced. Same JVC he mentions is advertised HERE for $220 shipped to your door!

This question is like asking what's the best flavor of ice cream. Everybody has a different opinion based on different tastes.
You'll be fine as long as you go with a quality deck from a reputable manufacturer. Just pick the deck that best fits your budget with the features and asthetics you're after.
Check out the likes of: Alpine, Nakamichi, Pioneer, Kenwood, Eclipse, Sony, Blaupunkt, JVC, Clarion, Rockford Fosgate, Panasonic, etc... (I'm sure I've forgotten about a few too)
If you can give some specifics like price, required features (mp3, satellite, outputs, etc.), likes/dislikes, asthetic preferences, future system expansion, you'd get some better specific references.

If youre looking for something with good quality and is pretty-looking at night. I may be selling my Aiwa CDCZ137 HU which has an auxillary input right on the front of the face. Best part with the front input jack is that you can just get a male/male connector and it would be easy as hell to plug and unplug the laptop. It is still new (used for about two months) and has been a very good cd player. You can go off-roading if you really wanted to, and this thing will NOT skip. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Ideally, I want something that can drive an amplifier, have room for a subwoofer, and have an auxiliary input on the front so I can connect the iPod through a male to male minijack connector. I don't listen to many CD's, but the sound quality of the cassette adapter isn't exactly the best. When I had my Volvo, it had a Blaupunkt, and it was pretty nice, the BMW had Pioneer, and everything else had factory, so I have no real leanings towards brand.
