What was his resoning for this combo?

As far as I know clevland heads won't fit on a windsor series block. They are 2 different 351 designs

302's and 351W's are both windsor small block fords. So I'd think that either the cranks or the bore size is the same.....

I am so tired, I'll just stop yabbering and do some reading I'll PM you those links to the summit stuff in a bit, sorry for the delay.

as far as heads...the gt-40's flow pretty well...it is what they used on the cobra, the explorer also had gt40 heads, but received a "p" designation for how the spark plugs go into the head...it makes it extremely hard to change them from what i hear, but they can be had for prety cheap...although the gt-40 heads can be had for a decent price. I can check and see if my ex-boss has any heads. Let me know.

afaik cleveland and windsor parts don't mate up to well...but I could be dead wrong.
What's the reason for the 351 block, heads, etc, but the 302 pistons?
What's the cubic inch result?
Compression result?

well I belive that this is called a "Clevor" 351- and yeah I guess its a common enough thing that they actually have two on Ebay right now-

anyway - apperently I thinkI can get most of that stuff off ebay - just look at the 351C heads ect

IIRC it makes a 393 or something like that - the 302 pistons are for lower compression I think- mabey higher - I dont know

Actually, the Cleveland heads WILL fit, with just a little modification. The 4V heads flow very well, almost too much for a mild street engine. The ports are huge on these heads. They are great for higher RPM power. The 2V heads are good too, IMO, the best choice for a street engine. These make much better low end torque.

And yes, the Winsor blocks are almost identical, with just a different deck height.

Check out the Mustang mags. 347 and 357 stroker kits are becoming very affordable and make great power

ok ladies-

so what will make more power a 351W or a 302?
I would like 350-400 HP but for under $3K.
It has been a while for me and FoMoCo small blocks so I need those who have a clue to help me out on this.

I can get parts cheap through Kirkhams but I need ideas on where to start.

one Idea is the above listed one-
another is:
351W
stroker crank
351W GT-40 LIM
GT-40 UIM
and headers

same idea for a 302-

help me out guys - I wont be starting this for about a month but Im trying to do my research.
