Hey all, posted about 4 weeks ago about my 2000 CSVT that blew the engine on the highway. Got the car back yesterday, with very little yelling from the dealer surprisingly. Car had 37k on it, but I had an ESP, so I paid $100 plus the tow for a new engine. Car seems to be running fine at this point, I will break it in slowly, since it is a rebuild. One question, is there any way to verify that the dealer gave me an SVT block/crank/rods/pistons? I think the 2.5 blocks are all the same, but it is the internals that differ, in addition to the intakes/heads/cams. I just want to make sure I got what I was supposed to get. If I have to drop the oil pan, I will to make sure I didn't get screwed. Thanks in advance.
Tony

To my knowledge, gleaned from this board, there's no difference in the block/pistons/rods/crank/etc., -- everything below the head gasket is the same between the SVT and the "stock" 2.5 Duratec AFAIK. These motors aren't like the hand-picked and hand-built Cobra motors, just different spec parts in certain areas, shouldn't be too hard to confirm most of it.

The SVT pistons are different. They have slightly higher compression. On your 2000 the compression was raised from 9.8:1 to 10.25:1. On earlier SVT's, the compression went from 9.8:1 to 10.00:1. The crank and rods are the same as normal production but the pieces were hand selected. The block itself is the same. The biggest difference is in the heads and intake manifolds.
Check your invoice. The part number should be different. Call another dealer if you are in doubt to see if the part number matches up to SVT parts. Personally, I don't think it is likely that you got the wrong parts, but if you are in doubt, that is one way to check it out.

Look for the oil heater/cooler sandwich under the oil filter. IIRC SE's didn't have it.
