Also posted in Troubleshooting, but I thought I'd check with the Canadian's directly.
Based on all the discussion regarding water pump failures, I'm finally getting around to replacing mine. Is it still the general thought that the best option is a metal impeller? Anyone with a metal impeller run into problems?
Trouble I'm having, is that I can't find anyone in Ottawa (Canada) who sell's these things. I was at Napa this morning, and the only one they had was plastic (Canadian part number NP1576). Canadian Tire didn't have one either for the Contour.
Any suggestions on where I can get a Water Pump with Metal Impeller? 98 Contour 2.5 V6

We had a groupbuy to get them from Autozone in the USA about 2 years ago. It was about $120 cdn in the end IIRC. I haven't had any problem with mine. Just make sure the "cone" (the part directly opposite of the impeller, it sits in the housing) is still secure when you put it in.
Some have purchsed metal impeller version in Canada since the groupbuy. I'll wait for those persons to post...

Welcome onboard.
Not good to start with duplicate post so I've deleted the duplicate. Question re Cdn source of wp best kept in local Forum.
Suggest you hit the Yellow pages for local auto parts suppliers and see if they can order you a Tredex NP-1576, that's how I located my first (and then went directly there for my 2nd wp three weeks later).

Thanks - I'll keep your suggestions in mind for future posts.
As for the part number you provided (NP-1576) that was the same part number I got from the Napa store. They called the supplier of the part who told them the impeller was made of plastic.
What did you need a 2nd pump so quickly? Did you have problems with the first one?

I got one from that group buy but unfortunately mine leaked after about a month of being installed. I just think that it was a faulty one and was just my luck. I went back to the regular one. Hey I got ample mileage out of the first one plus at the time I didn't have a choice if I wanted my car back.
I have heard people saying that they are hard to find in Canada but they are there. You just have to keep looking. Try places in Quebec as well.
