An Isolator is not required for most setups. If he uses the same brand, same model batteries in the back and a regular battery under the hood he should be ok. I had 4 SVR's in my tire well for well over two years with an adjustable voltage regulator and slightly higher output altenator. I most likely had a higher current draw too, but he never stated how large of inverters he has.
An Isolator will reduce your voltage even more (by .5V) I would stay away from them.
