Another option would be to use some Human Speakers (i think the model is 0005). They are used in Epicure and Genesis home speakers, which you may know are some of the very best speakers available.

the only disadvantage they would have is the paper cone and foam surround. But in a competition caliber system, i'm guessing that moisture won't be an issue. They are cheap too.

I'll post alink when I find it.

ok cool!! But hey if the paper is thick enough, or re-enforced it should be ok...as long as it was designed to handle SPL. I'd have to check them out in person, or at least read some stats on them. Although I'm more of a sound quality man than SPL...even though I push 150 now.

I'm always willing to get more information or listen to something that can sound better. The limitations are, however, that it cannot be any deeper than the JL's and operate effectively with 75 watts @ 4 ohms. More power is available if the speakers have a lower impedence. The subs are mounted freeair in the door behind the OEM door panel. In order to clear the window, a spacer was needed move the speaker out. The downside is that the raised area on the speaker by the monting holes (fortunately not the surround or cone) is pushing out on the door panel a little so I have definitely maxed out on the total depth available.

Please let me know where I can get more information about your suggestions.
