In Rock Island IL there is an ordinace that they can impound your car if they catch you with your music too loud. I think they take it a little far though.
I don't believe any states have noise ordinances (state wide laws), they generally leave that up to the local, city or towns, to establish. Be careful in a couple of situations. Popular cruising areas and small towns.
