I am going through the motions to installing a new system on my 98 tour. My Kenwood bandpass box, 2 Amps, Component speakers, New 6X8 and CD changer and head. But I keep running into new dilemmas every time. There is just so much to be covered! I want to know besides Gold and Silver what is the best metal conductor there is for sound. Also I want to know if my bass Amp pulls 30 amps of power and my mids and tweets pulls only 7. Do I need more than a 40 amp fuse to keep the power save but well powered?

I wouldn't worry about the material of the wires you're using.

It sounds like you're using some low power amps, so a 2-amp kit with 4ga wire to a dist block with 8ga going to the amps would probably be overkill.

I'd consider getting a couple of 8ga installation kits from Parts Express. They're probably more than you need. Here's the link:

BTW, what amps are you running?

I can't find any info on a Sony Explode XM-1002HX. As long as it's below a combined rms (continuous) rating of 300-400w or lower, you should be fine with 8ga.

I'm assuming the phase linear is a small amp, so 8ga is probably overkill. But, at only $17, why not.
