The price has not been set at this time, they have not released a lot of details yet to keep competitors guessing. Once it is released we will have a price, but I don't believe it will be $1000 for the common model.

Don't know yet if there will be a data loging ability with this, but I am doubting it will be included in the handheld version. It may be present in the chip version as it could be done similar to the TwEECer.

There will be two methods, a handheld flasher and a chip version. The chip will be a new Superchips 4 bank chip, this will allow for 4 programs to be stored and the option of turning it off and using the stock EEC as a fallback.

It has been stated on the Modular Depot thread that with the flasher it will currently not be possible to read the data from the stock EEC as a safety feature. When reading from and writing to the EEC the car must be powered on, if power is lost it is possible to be left with a useless EEC. When the flasher writes to the EEC the first thing it writes is the boot portion of the programming so that if power is interupted halfway through you will still be able to start again and recover it. It is recomended that the car be hooked up to a charger when reading or writing to the EEC in order to avoid this happening.

Once used the flasher will be locked to only work with the EEC it was first hooked up to, but will allow you to adjust the programming as many times as you want for that car. There will be a tuner version also which will work with any number of cars but will obviously cost more. With the chip version this limit will not exist since you can only use the chip in one car at a time, but you could use it in any car that has the J3 connector. For example, use it with your truck to get good gas mileage to the track, then move it to your car for racing, and back to your truck for the return trip. This would require a computer and power source, but so does the TwEECer. It may also be possible in the future to buy a license to use the flasher with an extra vehicle, or buy another chip for a second vehicle.

I agree that datalogging can be a great asset to someone who knows what they are looking at. My preference would be to get a standalone package like the autotap tho. This would allow me to use one or the other without having to use both. I could take the autotap and use it on a friend's car without having to dissable my car by moving the chip as well.

Like I said at the begining, the product has yet to be released, once it is, these questions will be answered.
