as someone else said above, my advice is "small claims"!!!
I did it once, cost me $5 to file the claim and another few bucks to serve them using registered mail. You don't need a lawyer, just have your $hit together and be able to present in a clear concise way (with documentation to back it up). You'll say your piece. Judge asks their response... gives judgement. (worst case is you get nothing).
When I did it the once, (and was successful) I thought, why don't people do this more???
