I posed pics a while ago here of my Mondeo RC car. this is a traxxas 4 tec. i was curious if anyone else races these. i need some help modifing the car. The car was baught AWD and i converted it to rear wheel drive. limited slip differental, ball bearings all around. re-filled the oil-filled sh0cks with R0yal Purple, cleaned and rebrushed the motor.a little weight reduction has been completed as well i prolly only have about 8 real hours of running this car since new. the car is in perfect shape, so i want to keep this going considering the $ i put into this plastic peice of fun. anyone know how to re-wire the motor or where to get a new one cheap. of corse dont wanna spend too much but willing to have some work done to this.

I used to race "sedans" several years back, my cars include several versions of the Yokomo "team" cars, and several Tamiya's. My last car was a David Jun TA03 replica, but I built it before Tamiya released an actual kit. I just got the information off Tamiya USA's website and talked to David at the local races when I saw him.

As far as the modifications, the little cars are like big cars, and as the saying goes, "speed costs money...." And I'd convert it back to AWD, as it will actually handle/corner better, as well as accelerate abnd brake quicker (unless you're running a "one-way" diff up front).

Good luck with the car, I had a blast for the few years I raced.

I USED to race all the time and had a couple sponsors. I started out in the 7th grade with a kyosho buggy (cant remember the pos's name), then a traxxas Rad2, then a traxxas LSII.
Then my pride and joy RC10T3 I had over $1000 into that truck, The whole thing was titanium and carbon fiber. the only thing stock on it was the front caster block and the tranny housing, and the body posts. It was a about an ounce under weight from the NORCA regs IIRC.
I also had a very modified Yokomo YR4-M2 that I used to race. Yes I used to wind my own modified motors back in the day. But its not worth it any more. Armatures are so hi-tech now, you can do alot more by modifying the brushes and springs, especially on stock motors.
I also went through a collection of boats also. I used to have a 40" catamaran with .81 nitro motor in it producing about 4.2hp.
However I sold EVERYTHING!! almost 2 years ago for a couple thousand $$. (hey, it helped buy the SVT ) But I still have all the knowledge related to the hobby if you want to pm your questions my way.
I also used to be sponsored by Maxtec Motors, I could probably still hook you up with a deal. I dont wind motors anymore (sold the tools) but I think there is a video floating around on the net somewhere of a car running one of my motors in the Hitec parking lot challenge. I'll try to find it and post it

I don't even want to think about how much money I spent at Tower Hobbies in high school. I had a Turbo Ultima with a 7-cell battery, Trinity Godzilla motor, ball-bearing LSD, Tekin T1, etc. "Engineered" it to run exactly 4 min. and then die (4 min. was the length of the races). Did pretty well with it.

Anyway, I still buy stuff from www.towerhobbies.com, but I have no idea what's available these days for electric R/C cars. Most people got into fuel-powered buggies starting about 10 years ago.

I raced for 7 years from about the time I was in 8th grade till I was in college. I mainly raced 1/10 off road 2WD, 4WD and trucks and during the winter when most tracks were closed I ran 1/12 carpet. I still have a good amount of my stuff including a fully race ready Losi XX and an Associated 12LW and may have some parts of other cars laying around. If all you need is a motor then send me a PM and I will send you something although I may only have stock motors laying around.
