How about a Human 005 woofer. It was used as the midbass in some of the old Genisis systems. It has a 10mm xmax (not too shabby for an 8". 88 dB sensitivity. Considering that it was used in the Genisis 1 system, it's SQ would most likely be better than anything MTX makes at any price. Now I just have to come up with an alignment that would give you what you are looking for. I took a look at them. It does look like an interesting possibility. Do you know what the cone material is made of? From the pics on their site, the woofers all seem to be untreated paper with foam surrounds.
Anyways, I definately know one place that I'm gonna look for home theater speaks when my Bose speaks are retired. I like how they've got everything available as components, so you can design and build your own setup. Very neat.
