Congrats! Someone else has figured out my technique! It took me 10 hours to cut my first set apart. Now, I would probably be able to do them in 1 hour for both.
Kudos for not trying the oven trick. I'm glad someone listened to me about that. The chrome part that you DON'T want to paint can be tricky.
When you put them back together, here is a trick:
-Put a bead of silicone all the way around the black part, where the lens fits into. Then, using your finger, push the squished out silicone into the valley that was cut out. You might want to add more silicone to this "valley" after that.
Don't worry about SOME condensation after you get them back on the car. That will eventually evaporate out the vent tubes if you leave it in the sun for a day. I promise!
