I just bought a one-owner 98 contour sport with the ztec.
It has 31,000 miles on it. Just like my 96 Mystique zetec, my new one has a temp gage that doesn't work.
The dealer is goint to replace the sensor that works the gage (my cooling fan is working).

I had 142,000 on my 96 Mystique and never bothered to change the sender for the temperature gage.

I hated to sell my Mystique. It seemed to run just as nice as my new one, but it took five minutes in the morning for the timing belt to quiet down.

These are great motors!

I just bought a Mystique with the same problem, my guauge runs in the L side of the NORMAL, but when we put the scanner on it, it ran in the 206-216 range. Fan works and all. Was this a recall? Or is the dealer charging you for this?

The dealer charged me $140.00 to replace the Temperature Gage Sender: 58 for the sender and $58 labor.
It now looks like it is running a little hot - the needle is at about 2:00. I am pretty sure this is normal for this motor.
