You don't need Ford's tool. Zxtuner sells a piece of metal (which you could also make yourself) that you can place in the cams to sorta lock them in place, but it could break the cams if your not careful when setting the tension. What you SHOULD do is buy/build a tool that locks the cam gears. We used a piece of wood to pry on the timing belt which effectively held the cams while we set the torque on the crank pulley.
