I just went through buying a CSVT, and when I was pricing insurance, color didn't mean anything. I am 20, and every insurance company told me the same things. It's going to be high since it's considered a sports car to them, and that you are under the age of 25. I also heard that since parts are on the rare side for the car (parts like bumpers, wheels, anything that will need replaced after a fender-bender) that the premium will be higher. If I remember correctly, a red car adds $20-40 every 6 months.
As for painting it, go for it. Anything more distinct makes it that much better. I want to put ghost flames on my Silver Frost CSVT, just so it's a little different than the other thousands like it
I wouldn't do it because of insurance though. They base it off of VIN number.
