At one time I was getting ~27mpg. Lately (past 6 months?), it dropped to ~22/23. I thought it might be the plugs, so bought a set. Unfortunetly, I haven't been able find the time to put them in. Anyway, this weekend I found that the parking brake cable was binding and therefore never fully releasing the parking brake. I think the drag induced by the parking brake wasn't helping my milage. If your milage doesn't seem that good, you might consider checking the parking brake cables. I noticed that there was a lot of chafing on the brake cable housing; the plastic housing was rubbed off exposing the metal housing. I suspect it was chafing against the Fwd Tie Rod being the tie rod had a flat where the cable would touch(this is the left side of the car, BTW). Hopefully, the milage will go back up, but I still need to put in those plugs!

Actually tank size varies; e.g. my '97 - 14.5g US (55L), my '98 - 16.3g US (61.5L).
Note: Metric in brackets.

another question what all should i check that would effect the mileage cuz it really sux filling up like every 4-5 days

15-17 mpg on a duratec atx, 100% city driving (delivering pizzas) with excessive idle time while making a delivery, and a very heavy foot and clogged precats

I was hoping to get an update on the plug/wires issue. Now I've got it. Congrats Ken! I hope it continues to serve you well.

ok, so this all kinda answers my thoughts on mpg. i get about 19 mpg on my 00 svt, about 6 miles shy of 80k. My boyfriend just recently cleaned the UIM, and I know the spark plugs need changed, as it still has the originals And I'm sure I'll need an air cleaner, an O2 sensor and various other items soon, b/c the first owner didn't seem to take very good care of it

last winter when I first got the tour, I was getting 17-19 mpg, 200 a tank (mostly 4 mile trips from house to school, or 2 mile trips to work). this summer it hopped to 20-21 mpg, with 250-275 a tank. now, it seems to be dropping back down to 18-19...I wouldn't doubt I need new plugs and filters, which I should probably do soon enough...
btw, my V6 2.5L SE has a 14.5 gallon tank, says so right on my handy-dandy manual.

I get about 20 to 22 mpg or 260 (give or take 15) miles per tank, usually filling up with a little over 13 gallons. To guage how much city driving that is... 15 miles one way trip to work takes about 30 minutes (25 if im rushing). I rarely ever take any of the 1.5 highways here in tucson unless im going to phoenix. It goes up to about 23 to 26 if its all highway mileage.
Oh 73K miles on it
