I have recently been having a problem with my 2000 SVT. I was driving down to the fair and the front end began to vibrate. Vibrate may even be to soft of a word. Maybe Shutter is more like it. It felt as if i was going over small washboards on a dirt road. Keep in mind, this was a newly paved interstate. This isn't the first time i have noticed it, but it was alot worse tonight. It only seems to do it at speeds between 60-70 mph. If i speed up or slow down out of that speed range, it is smooth as a baby. I am thinking it is something simple like maybe an out of balance tire, but i am not sure. Anyone out there come acrost this problem at all?

If your lucky, might just be a tire out of balance. You might have thown a wheel weight. The symptoms would be worse within a certain speed range, which seems to go along with your description. Also could be a shifted or bad tire belt. (It does happen.) If belt replace tire ASAP.

I know it isn't an engine mount because i can put the car in nuetral and let it roll, and it is still doing it even when it isn't under power. i'm taking it in monday and having them look at the tires. Anyone else have any other ideas?

Please post the if the tires or something else fixes your pboblem. I've had the same symptom for a long time now (60-70mph). I've had the tires changed (worn out, not because of the vibration), then the new set was rotated, and I even had a set of snow tires. The problem has always been there. Never thought it would be a trans or engine mount. I just thought it's a half shaft or rotor something. But in the meantime I've had all 4 rotors replaced so that's not it. It runs fine otherwise, so I haven't spent money trying to chase it down. I'd be interested in knowing your result.

may be a bent rim. if none of the mentioned stuff has fixed it. if your steering wheel shakes, rotate your tires front to back and see if it still shakes the steering wheel. that way you can also narrow down if it is a rim and where it is.

I have this exact same problem in my '95 Contour GL. On the freeway between 65-70 the front end and steering wheel begin to shake. Goes away under 65.

I thought either tire, wheel, or maybe ball joints. Haven't done anything about it yet though. When I had it jacked up the other day I checked the wheel for play, and while it had a little bit it didn't seem totally shaky or sloppy so maybe ball joints are okay.

Yeap. Yesterday did a long trip and had the same problem but on my rear left wheel. It happens between 65 and 75 MPH. Really bad shake.
