My favorites are:
Bass Mekanik 5.0- Track 5+6
Cash Money, Baller Blockin- "Project *****"
Outkast, Stankonia- Track 5,6,and 10
Mystikal, Unpredictable- Track 7,9,and 11?
Juvenile, The G Code- "I Got that Fire"
Big Tymers, I Got that Work- "We Hustle"
Juvenile, 400 Degrees- "Ha"
Eminem, Slim Shady LP- "Guilty Conscience"

Also, I have to agree on Track 1 of Chronic 2001, this CD has the same quality recording as a test CD.
There are plenty more I could list, but these are my favorite bass tracks.

This probably isn't the best list, but for what I listen to, its fine for me:

Reel Big Fish - for clarity with brass instruments

Star Trek VI overture - for large sound range

Incubus: Vitamin - for nice little bass guitar intro

Megadeth: Ashes in Your Mouth - because I like the song

2. Enya's Best

3. The Corrs

I'm not trying to promote Irish stuff here but they do make some really good music. I would recommend chinese music, but most of you guys woudln't understand.

back in the day....

Madonna - Immaculate Collection
George Michael - Faith (really!)
and for some thump? Sir Mix-A-Lot

doesn't his song Testarossa have a segment with a 12Hz bassline? My 12" couldn't ever get that low

but my buddy (back in highschool) had 4 18" subs that could he could bounce 1/2 dollars off his roof

I no particular order...

Madonna-
Immaculate Collection

I like this album but it tends to make every system sound good, so it's not really a good reference recording. It is very well recorded though.

Metallica-
...And Justice For All

Wicked double bass drum, great music, but one of the worst recordings in history

Black Album

Ear candy.

Diana Krall (anything by diana krall) Beautiful voice, best recordings on the market. Excellent stereo seperation and placement. Listen on a good reference system and you'll be able to place her at a particular point, not a general area, but a defined point. Probably the best reference recordings on the market.

of course Telarc's 1812 overture as a woofer tester...

I must agree with Extreme III as a choice, but my track to test things out is #5 Cupid's Dead. Great tight bass and drums. Also, no one mentioned Dark Side Of The Moon. One of the best recored albums of all time.
