The only way I could see angle eyes being possible for a pre-98 would be to open the housings and insert custom acrylic rings into the lamps and then reseal. The drawbacks would be it would hurt light output in some areas and they wouldnt be crystal clear like they are on the BMWs. The lens would disperse the light just like it disperses the light from the headlamp bulb.
City lights would be a better choice for a pre-98 and they dont hurt light output (I had them before the projector swap). I had the LEDs facing directly at the bulb from the bottom of the housing, figuring that when it hit the filament it would help to spread the light.
