I'm roughly the same size, and only 5'7", which is why I'm looking at the .45

I can't say that I've had problems with recoil, but then again, my experience is limited to the few that I've mentioned. My worst experience with recoil was shooting slugs, and not expecting much of a "kick"

I feel I'm leaning to the Colt and Kimber. With a difference of only 10 bucks, I don't know which I'd consider.
Also, I don't know much about Kahr or Springfield Armory.
