You may want to check out Kahr, I have been very pleased with thier guns and I have never heard anything bad with them, They also have a polymer gun so it will be lighter.

Have you looked at the springfield armory XD series, i shot a friends in 9mm and loved the way it feels in teh hand. I think i will get one in 40s&w though as i have about 300 loaded rounds and I already have the die set for the 40. The xd seems to point well and i don't think the 40 should be that much different than the 9. I just read an article in the 2004 guns and ammo handuns mag where the author compares the XD to the glock and he thinks the xd is a better gun thatn the glock as long as the long term durability proves to be there.

It's more for the wife, but I won't lie and tell you I don't like shooting it. It's a great gun that's EXTREMELY easy to conceal. For a factory firearm, the trigger pull is pretty smooth and it fits your hand like a glove. If you have big hands, though, you probably won't like it.

It's damn-sure got the concealment factor down, but if you are looking for knockdown power, I don't think a .380 would be what you are looking for.

A Kimber Ultra-Carry is probably up your alley, but they cost out the wazoo and I'm not too hot on such a large caliber in a small frame. I've shot a friend's Colt Defender (similar in size) and I was all over the paper on that one. Kick wasn't too pleasant, either...

Have you check out the Sig p239s in .40? May be the right balance.

Another friend of mine also has a 232. It felt great in my hands, but I've never shot it. I don't know if I'll have the chance to fire it before I buy my next gun. And, I'm afraid that the .380 is not really something I want. Occasionally, I'll be carrying this at work (for the next 3 months for sure).

The Kimber and Colt are seperated by $10 at the last place I looked (today). Still pricey, I know. Both felt pretty good and I like the size. I liked the Colt grip better than the Kimber, though. The Kimber has that black synthetic diamond cut stuff, just like the HK, which I didn't like when I shot it. Actually bothered me.

I've never fired a 45 in such a small package, though. That's what I'm afraid of.

I did check out the 239 (its last on the list up top) and I liked it. It is barely smaller than the 229, though. I don't know how much of a difference in concealment it'll be.

Decisions, decisions. ugh.

I wouldn't go with the really small Kahr in anything larger thatn the 9, i shot one in .40 ( i like the 40 if you can't tell) and it isn't comfortable to shoot and i am not recoil sensitive. Speaking of liking the 40 i think taurus is going to chamber it in a revolver which will be my choice for my bedside gun and to carry when i am hiking. I prefer a revolver for my bedside gun for its ease of use in a hurry, no safties or chances of jamming.

That response was answering you. But now you lost me.

The yes on the former was the LEO or permit holder.

Speaking of revolvers, I did consider the SW Airlite. I picked one up at a gun show a few months ago. Holy cow, was that thing light. I just don't see myself carrying a revolver, though. Don't ask why. I don't know.

I am thinking about getting one of the scanadium .357's to carry instead of the 40 i carried in FL i shot one of the Sc .357's and with 38sp loads it is not bad but when you shoot the full bore .357s it is a little sharp.
