It's about that time for a gun thread anyway. And please, no anti-gun remarks, blah, blah, blah.

I'm looking at getting a small compact handgun. I currently have a S&W 5946, which is a full size, and a Sig P229, which is a sub-compact. I carry the Sig, but it's still a bit big for true concealment. Gimme some options here. This is what I'm leaning towards. As you see, I don't really have what I want set in stone, as the guns I am looking at vary big time.

Colt Defender (45) $$$$$$$
Kimber Ultra Carry II (45 or 40) $$$$$$$
Sig 232 (380) $$$$$
Sig P239 (40) $$$$$

The 232 is really out of place here, but I like the size. I just don't think I want the caliber. Anyone with experience with Colt or Kimber?

Get one of those one shot guns in the lip stick cases or something like that,,, talk about true concealment.

Its all about the G23 or maybe even G19 (same outer dimensions). Then there is the "baby Glock" G26.

Yeah, whenever I feel lonely, I pull out my gun and cuddle up with it.

One of my friends has a G27 and I really didn't like the way it felt in my hand. I borrowed it when I went to my in-laws cabin last winter and fired quite a few rounds. For size, it's great. But I wasn't too comfortable with it.

There's also the new SW99 compact size. But, I've fired the full size SW99 and didn't like the trigger.

I'm a pretty big Sig fan and the last one I bought was a p232 SL with tritium sites. Went ahead and did the factory molded grips as well. It's more for the wife, but I won't lie and tell you I don't like shooting it. It's a great gun that's EXTREMELY easy to conceal. For a factory firearm, the trigger pull is pretty smooth and it fits your hand like a glove. If you have big hands, though, you probably won't like it.

It's damn-sure got the concealment factor down, but if you are looking for knockdown power, I don't think a .380 would be what you are looking for.

A Kimber Ultra-Carry is probably up your alley, but they cost out the wazoo and I'm not too hot on such a large caliber in a small frame. I've shot a friend's Colt Defender (similar in size) and I was all over the paper on that one. Kick wasn't too pleasant, either...

Have you check out the Sig p239s in .40? May be the right balance.
