ditto, I drive in the snow with lowered suspension and lots of other gear...
winter tires are a MUST. I bought dunlop wintersport M2s and they're a good combo between performance and winter safety.
it handles real well and is predictable. fwd is good in this sense....

I boot around in our famously fun upstate New York winters on a set of BFG Winter Slaloms, and they do a pretty credible job.
Last November, I drove to the tire shop on my BFG KDW's to swap them for the Winter Slaloms. As coincidence would have it, we got our first snow of the year the previous night - about 3" of snow - and I slipped and slid the 1/2 mile or so to the tire shop.
Conclusion: Dedicated snow tires are highly, highly advisable. I suppose you could get all seasons, but if you already have a good set of high-performance summer tires, why would you even bother with all-seasons for winter driving?

I drove my SVT all winter with the BFG Comp-Gs on it...... not a fun experience, but I was (am) a broke college chump. Hopefully it won't snow too much in Texas this winter.

KDW's or KDWS's, I have KDWS's, they are the all season ones I buy all season tires cause, I just am too lazy to go changing tires all the time. and I am poor.

Same here. I have some no name Mastercraft tires onthe car and survived most of last winter ( I blew the tranny up in Febuary).
This winter I plan on having KDWS's + Quaife to get me through the snow.

No, regular KWD's, which are strictly summer tires. Not the easiest thing in the world to handle, but I've driven in much worse conditions (lived in Buffalo for awhile), so it wasn't too dramatic.

Snow tires are good, but the best advice is "sensible driving appropriate to current weather conditions"....
