I'm contemplating driving my 70,000 mile, rust-free Contour this winter in Ohio. How many lowered SVTs are driven in the snow and how do they handle in the snow? Is it a bad idea? Any advice on driving a lowered SVT in the snow?

Thanks!

I do, though mine's not lowered. Just two things to remember:

1) Put tires on it appropriate to the occasion. This means either all-seasons if you are a pansy, and real snow tires if you are a real man.

2) Don't hit anything that is hard. Or anything soft that is alive. Item 1 will help to avoid this.

both me and my buddy drove our svt's in the snow this past winter. mine is stock and his is lowerd. they actually do very well (although in my case, my comparison is with a stang). we had a pretty bad winter and the contour did just fine.

I drive my (stock) SVT in the snow but with snow tires (a must - high performance summer tires absolutely not recommended). It handles very well. Avoid ice accumulation or hard snow; they are tough on the front valence and the side skirts.

I did it for 3 winters, 1 season with the Eagle F1's, and 2 seasons with the BFG KDW's. I was able to get around pretty fine, though if you get alot of snow in your area, snow tires are a must.

I do and I have Blizzaks. The car is extremely competent in poor weather with the correct shoes.
