Traction control was not an SVT option. There is however at least one out there that has it. There has been a previous discusion about it. Basically if you have likely an early SVT and you pop the cover off where the traction control would go, like a lottery you may find the harness already there. All you would need to do then is buy/find a switch and pop it on.

On a second thought. What is with you Zippy? Everywhere I turn there is a post from you. Your posting as frequently as a toilet seat goes up and down in a unisex bathroom.

Using a "dealer" shop rate of 80-100 per hour makes it downright sickening.

The Ford book time for a Duratec differential removal & replacement is 9.5 hours. This does not include any work you may do in addition to the R&R like disassembly and re-assembly of the trans to check condition of the gears/shafts/shifter forks/etc. which could easily add up to a 16 hr. total. One thing you can try (I've been successful in doing it) is to negotiate a flat cost with the service manager or a reduced hourly rate (wholesale/taxi/fleet rate) for the work. Got my Ford Dealer rate down to $50/hr. for the trans R&R, etc.

16 hours seems like a lot. I don't know if Duratec Contours are a lot different than Zetec Contours in tranny removal and installation, but I've removed the tranny from a Zetec contour, took it apaprt, replaced the differential, put it back together, and put it back in the car in about 8 hours. I don't see it taking an additional 8 hours to install the quaife.

The Duratecs are significantly different to work on and take considerably more effort to do most engine/trans related work, due to:
1) greatly reduced working room and
2) added complexity

As far as I know, Quaife is about the best thing that'll ever happen to a Solo2 or Road Course Junkie, but for occasional Drag Racing, unless you want greater peace of mind, the stock diff may actually put a hair more power to the ground and as I've already mentioned, you may not see a single difference in 1/4 times w/quaife. This thought about Quaife causing a tinge less power to the ground was not that of my own and I personally haven't tested this theory, but It came from a VERY Reliable source, most old timers here will remember him

But doesn't it help to get rid of some wheel sping and also take a beating and keep on going during what wheel spin there is?
