Hey, I have been considering getting dual exhaust, but am not sure yet if I want to do. I have a 99 Contour SE Sport with the Duratec engine. I know SVTs come this way, but I have heard it is still possible to put dual exhaust in my car as well. A few questions. Will Ford give me the parts or install it for me? Does anybody recommend another brand such as Borla? Which one would sound the best? Will this interfere with my oxygen sensors/OBDII? Any info on having this done would be appreciated. I'd like a small power boost and a little character to the way my exhaust sounds so please let me have your opinions!

any Ford dealership will probably not install it 1st off and if they would they would charge you an insane amount of money too. also dont expect much power gain from just an exhaust. cheapest aftermarket would probably be from www.trubendz.com . are you looking for something cheap or do you want something exspensive like borla ? no, it wont affect your o2 sensors. some people might say find a SVT exhaust and modify it but, even that gets exspensive after buying new mufflers, resonator ,and having it welded.

look at the Bosal system from sp motorsports, it is not a true dual but very nice. the guy told me it sounds like a borla, just my two cents. later

The Contour SVT does not come with dual exhaust; it has what we call "qausi-duals". The exhaust manifolds are connected to a Y-pipe which proceeds to one catalytic converter. The exhausts exits the catalytic converter via one pipe. This pipe then splits into two pipes which connect to mufflers. You see two exhaust outputs but it's not a true dual system.
TrueBendz (formerly Yo Dude) was going to make a true dual exhaust system for V6 Contours but I don't know what happened to that plan. For now, you can only achieve dual exhaust through a custom setup. There will be no problems with your oxygen sensors/OBD-II system when changing the exhaust from the Y-pipe on back. When you start playing with the exhaust manifolds, problems will arise if you don't install MIL-Eliminators.

The Svt dual exhaust is dollar for dollar the best mod I've done yet. It gave me an unusually high amount of torque for the mod (dynoed at 153 wheel torque, exhaust was my only mod at the time) If I had it to do over again I would probably try and get a bosal or a true bends. As far as horsepower gains I probably gained a bit but not much. That same dyno run I got 129 wheel horsepower only about 20 HP less than the svt's that were there

The exhaust section of ctamotorsports.com has a nice selection of sound files for you to listen to. The systems are mostly Magnaflow products that you can also get from stazi.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Trubendz with the Magnaflow. It's cheap and sounds great. It's not loud at all. I actually wished it was a little louder, but it has a very nice rumble.

If money is a concern, look for a used SVT exhaust(about $100) and replace the resonator with a high flow. Final cost should be under $200.
