I have to say, after reading all this I'm very impressed no one needed flame retardant boxers.

I was under the impression in the first post that the W6s were already purchased, hence the advice I gave. This obviously is not the optimum set up, but it would work. Luckily our friend has the easy option of selecting a better matched set of drivers to go with his MTX, so it's really a moot point.

I don't have any personal experience with most of the drivers you guys spoke of so I won't comment on then directly. I think whatever name is on them it really boils down to how they sound to YOU, in YOUR set up, and then of course will they hold up there.

Somebody commented that manufactures don't lie, I think. Thats relative isn't it? Ever seen a class A/B amp the size of Play station console with "400 WATTS X 4" emblazened across the heat sink?[Names withheld to protect the rediculous.] Even if it did it, what distortion %? How many channels driven? What input voltage? Load? Frequency of 1000hz, or 20hz-20000hz or more? The same can be said of speaker ratings, some are much more real world than others.

I was under the same impression that the woofers were already bought as well. Glad they werent though. Also glad that no one did do any flaming, I think we all respect each other and our views.

I totally agree with your "if YOU like it thats what matters" line. I guess it will very from maunfacture to manufacture on the voiding warranty policy (JL does it, at least appears that way) So ask them first. It will damage a speaker though, it will over work that one coil and eventually cause failure.

Also exercise will make YOU live longer, but the woofer is running on one leg, it wont finish a mile without falling....Ask the manufacture first, I guess that is what it will come to, if they keep replacing drivers then go ahead, I would not want the headache of taking out woofers and also not haveing them perform to there optimum level.
