hey arch, have you bought the subs yet, if not I would go with 2 12's instead on 10's.

I would sound better first of all with 12's. The tight response is great. Also I would go with the W3's that are newer and better than the W6's and take less power to run 'em.

so hope you have a good system and tell us what you end up with and maybe some pics.

The vent in the pole peice would be a good factor on its life, Anyone see the RF HX2's, I am not a RF fan by any means but that woofer has some serious thought in cooling going on.

I'm from Cleveland, live in Twinsburg actually? Havent seen any black svt's, mine's a 00 in silver.

This is my question and a response from Dan Wiggins from Adire Audio regarding the life expectancy of the woofer....

Dave,

There's no problem running a single voice coil of a dual voice coil driver,
other than the Qts change.  However, shorting the unused coil will keep the
Qts the same (as you state below).  It won't shorten the life of the driver
in any way whatsoever, since the basic operation of the driver hasn't
changed.

This would be analogous to using a stereo amp to drive the two voice coils,
and only playing a signal on one channel.  No damage, no harm.

Thanks,

Dan

Seems that different manufactures have different views on the subject. I still feel you will be shortening the woofers life by running one coil and the other not connected at all. So for anyone with a DVC check with your manufacture first, JL says you MUST, I am 95% sure RF is the same. If it goes bad and you get a new one, then i guess none of this will matter anyway
