dont mean to hijack here or anything, but since were on the tb subject, i recently picked one up from buckshot and was wondering if there was any real concern with cleaning the bore and plate inside in contradiction to the warning sticker not to do so because of some special coating on the metal. what coating is this any way, to keep micro dirt from building up or something?

That coating probably wears off pretty quick, and by the time rick is done with it, there's no trace of it left.

does anyone know for sure? i was apprehensive about using any kind of strong cleaner so i just cleaned it up with a baby wipe and even after that it did not feel as smooth or as slick as before. even the my stock one (98,000 mi) felt slicker.

The coating is of no value,
don't worry about it.
Most aftermarket TB's don't have it.
