I had the same problem. The fuel pump is probably o.k., the inlet screen to the pump is probably clogged. There is a how-to listed on cleaning it. There is an inlet screen on the pump, and a round screen on the inlet to the chamber the pump is mounted in. I cleaned both and the problem went away.
