I've raced a 240sx (stock) vs my '96 sport. I have new intake, but that didnt add much. The race was close but after he initially had me I pulled ahead. I'm fairly certain your 97 vs a 200 should be no challenge.

Doesn't sound like it would be much of a race maybe if you launch in second... he might beat you pre 98 Dtec 5spds rule! especially 97's, of course i'm a little biased

I wouldn't underestimate any SR20DE powered car. As mentioned already, they are a pretty torquey little engine and make power everywhere in the rev band. my modded 99SE is just now starting to feel as quick as my friend 91 Sentra SE-R was it was fairly stock. The 200 is a bigger car yes, but not to be blown off so easy either. You may still take it, but I wouldn't write it off as easy pickins myself.
As for the guy who raced the 240, those have the KA24 engine stock, it's decent but a truck engine at heart.

Right on my NorMich buddy! The 240 is a totally different breed of car. It is heavier and has a cast iron block KA24 motor with 160HP. The 200sx SE has a GA16 (1.6 liter) iron block alum. head engine, not the best for drag racing. The 200sx SE-R however, watch out. My mom has one, and let me tell you, she can kick ass in it. 140HP stock all alum 16v motor in a car that weighs in at 2800 lbs with fuel. They run 15.3 or so stock in the quarter. Modded NA can get down in the upper 14's.

I'm not sure what to think about this... I majority of you guys think I can take him, but there are a few of you that think the SE-R can give me a go. In regards to driving/shifting I would say that I could take him judging by the way he typically drives. I guess the only way to find out is to go out and get him!!! Thanks for your imput.

frpom my experiance with my s.e. 5speed most 4 cylinder cars with a non variable valve system of some kind usualy doesnt show me much unless it has lots of work done to the motor. my brother's 92 gs integra(non v tec) had lot of work done to it and it was able to hang untill i got it in fourth and i would go easy from the start.
